French Revolution era question

I've recently become addicted to the Cake Mania series.  Having successfully gotten thru 1 & 2, I'm learning 3.  In the French Revolution era, there's a multi-colored frosting button that supposedly frosts various flavors (I think).  Can anyone explain how to get it to work?  I've tried everything that seems logical to me but have yet to get it to work.  Suggestions?  Thanks!

Re: French Revolution era question

Hi Kittie,

Its a special feature to let you take the icing back off a cake if you ice it wrong colour - I'm sure you won't need it though big_smile.

btw Each world/historical period has its own special item to help you and the first time you play a level in that world there's a pop up box right at the start of the level which tells you what it is & how it works.

Sometimes you can only use the item once per level - I don't know about this one as didn't use it - if I get a cake wrong I use it as a layer of a display cake to sell.

Re: French Revolution era question

Hi,  The button on the frosters does not work for some reason, I think there are lots of folks who says this.  If you buy a cake stand and then if you have a cake that is not wanted someone will come along and buy it.

Hi clarkeskye,

Wow, that's strange.  The de-froster button always worked for me.  At any rate, I almost never used it since if I accidentally made the wrong cake, I would usually put it in the freezer or on the cake stand and as you said, someone will eventually come along and buy it.

Re: French Revolution era question

I have tried it loads of times, and it never works.  I tried it again today after reading the post, but no luck.  Not that I am bothered, as I wouldn't really use it.

Re: French Revolution era question

Thanks for the input!  Any advice then for getting out of that level?  There appears to be only one button for some of the icings, but there will be multiple requests at one time for it (of course).  I've tried going with the old trick of not picking up the cash so that there are only 2 or 3 people waiting--but that ends up with me not hitting my quota.  If I have more people, the requests pile up for the icing with the button on only one machine.  They don't get served in time (&/or Napoleon shows up) & flame out--so I still don't hit the quota.

Also, what are the tv channels in 3?  The info. doesn't list that.

Re: French Revolution era question

Hi kittiesfiv,

I'll see what I can do to help, as I've played Cake Mania 3 multiple times.  smile

What I generally tend to do is get the TV ASAP because it helps a lot in maximizing the customers' happiness.  So get it right away if you haven't gotten it yet.  I checked on the Cake Mania 3 page here and it does list which customers like which channels.  Here's the link:

http://www.sandlotgames.com/w5/cake_mania_3.html

You'll need to click on the Tips&Tricks tab and there, it will list which customers like which channels as well as some other usual information.

As to other tips, what I tend to do is this.  If a customer wishes for a multi-layer cake, I'll bake all of the layers first and then simultaneously frost the layers appropriately.  I won't usually do what the tutorial says and wait until one layer is frosted before frosting the next one.

I admit that the French Revolution era can be a little more difficult because there aren't as many frostings available on a froster but it can be done.  There just needs to be a little more strategical thinking.

Also, if Napoleon does show up and you're already making a cake for another customer but then Napoleon prevents you from giving that customer his/her order, then place that order on a cake stand or freezer and then immediately complete Napoleon's order so that he can leave and you can go back to serving the other customers.

I hope that'll help you get started a bit but if you need more help, let us know and we'll do our best.  smile
