London, England - Online casino developer and operator Gamesys Limited has recently announced the launch of a new mobile-friendly sports betting site at VirginBet.com.

The London-based firm has designed VirginBet to be a “personality-led brand” with the aim of disrupting the U.K. gambling market by providing the kind of sports betting experience that’s not only engaging, but also simple and straightforward. It is quite apparent that they are targeting bettors who appreciate the no-frills approach to betting.

For this project, Gamesys has chosen to partner with fellow innovator, SBTech. The new sportsbook was developed using SBTech’s platform, as well as a front-end interface they created specifically for this project. The partner firms stated that the technologies used in developing the sportsbook is indicative not only of their technological capabilities, but also of their commitment to the growth of the British iGaming market.

Gamesys chose to partner with SBTech after a completing a competitive tender process, and the landmark partnership is now being hailed as one of the biggest iGaming sportsbook deals in the U.K. in recent years. In a press release, Gamesys Marketing Director Simon Mizzi said:

“We’re excited to launch VirginBet.com into the world’s most competitive sportsbook market. We believe the Virgin brand has the ability to help change the industry for the better and we look forward to giving our customers the experience we feel they deserve.”

For his part, SBTech Chief Executive Officer Richard Carter has this to say about the their partnership with Gamesys and the launch of VirginBet:

“This is a significant announcement and achievement for the business, which strengthens our U.K. presence. Gamesys has put its faith in us due to our proven track record of delivering world-class sportsbook and casino platform solutions. This is testament to our talented team, outstanding product portfolio, and the exceptional results we are able to generate for our partners. Gamesys is likely to become one of our largest customers over time and we’re delighted to be working with its management team, whom we have long admired.”

The new sportsbook is Android-based, which means it is not available on Apple devices at this time, but Gamesys and SBTech are working on some changes. They have assured Apple users that VirginBet will soon be available on their devices, as well.

This is Gamesys’ second foray into the word of sports betting, following their partnership with betting platform provider Metric Gaming for Bethotshot, a sportsbook launched in 2016 to coincide with the Euro 2016 football tournament kick-off. Even at the time of the Bethotshot launch, Gamesys has already announced that their next move would be to launch a second sports betting site linked to the Virgin brand. We are now seeing the fulfillment of that promise from three years ago.

The U.K. sports betting market is highly competitive, and Gamesys has entered the game quite late, but they remain confident that their gaming expertise, coupled with their focus on the mobile betting experience, will set their sportsbook offerings apart from the competition. The firm’s move to enter the sports betting vertical came right after their leading brands were acquired by Intertain.
