Fruit slots are mostly a thing of the past, and only a few modern slots designed like the classic one-armed bandit lasted more than a few years. Novomatic, however, seems to have mastered the art of giving the traditional slot machine a modern twist. This 5-reel, 20-payline offering is another one of their retro-style online slots, and the developer has done a wonderful job with it.

This slot is a recreation of a land-based slot machine built by Barcrest. Novomatic developed a modern-day online version that is laden not only with classic game symbols but also a highly interesting bonus feature. Most slots developed by Novomatic are strangely magnetic, even when they only have one bonus feature, and Reel King is no different.

Gameplay begins with setting your bets. You may start by clicking on the Menu tab. You will then be taken to a screen where you can set the number of lines you want to play as well as the amount you want to wager per active payline on every spin. If you want to wager the highest amount allowed, click on the Max Bet tab on the bottom of the menu screen. You may then set the reels into motion by clicking on the arrow button to the right of the reels. If you want the reels to spin automatically, click and hold the Spin button for a few seconds before releasing.

Feature Symbols

The game has two low-value symbols, and they are represented by cherries and plums. You will also see the familiar playing card symbols in bold and colourful font, which include a green 10, blue J, yellow Q, and orange K. The game only has one high-value symbol, and it is represented by a bag of gold jackpot.

The game’s Wild symbol is represented by a jester’s hat. This symbol, which only appears on the third, fourth, and fifth reels, can substitute for any of the other base game symbols to help you form winning combinations. You will also see a special Reel King symbol, which pops up randomly after a spin. In addition, there are a few lucky 7 symbols that you will see in the game’s bonus feature. There is a blue, yellow, and red lucky 7.

Bonus Rounds

The game’s main bonus feature is the Reel King feature, and the good thing about this feature is that you don’t have to do anything or land a specific combination to trigger it. The feature can just occur at random after any spin, regardless of whether the spin resulted in a win or not. When this feature is activated, one or more of the reels will be transformed into a little King-shaped one-armed bandit, with only the lucky 7 symbols on the reels.

As soon as you click on Start, the reels will spin and every single spin will result in a win. The feature only ends if you land a black diamond. You also have the option of using the Autoplay button in this round for convenience.
